It is situated in the front of Ramnivas Talkies in Rajnandgaon. The coordinates are 21°53’29″N 83°23’42″E. The Raj Mahal is the first building across Orchha’s medieval granite bridge. It was the royal palace but now in ruin condition. Of the two rectangular courtyards inside, the most dramatic ones are the ones used by the Bundela ranis. The apartments projecting into the quadrangle on the ground floor belonged to the most-favored queens were having a number of additional features such as opulent royal quarters, raised balconies and interlocking walkways rise in symmetrical tiers on all four sides, crowned by domed pavilions and turrets. The visitors can easily watch for the fragments of mirror inlay and vibrant painting plastered over their walls and ceilings. The friezes which are in remarkable condition, beautifully depicts the Vishnu’s various outlandish incarnations, court and hunting scenes, and lively festivals.
